Lukashevich: "I am ready to win"

16 year old looking for first FPA victory.
After scoring his maiden Formula Palmer Audi podium finish at Brands Hatch last weekend, 16 year old Russian driver Ivan Lukashevich is setting his sights even higher for the rest of the season.
Lukashevich, who is backed by Audi Russia Motorsport, hopes that victory is on the cards in the forthcoming rounds at Spa-Francorchamps in May and Oulton Park in June. "It is a big challenge but I am ready to win," he said. "I am so happy to have finished third and finally got on the podium. I made good progress throughout the weekend and achieved the result I was looking for."
2008 is Ivan's first full year in FPA, as he was too young to compete in the series at the beginning of last season. After finishing 15th in the 2007 standings, Lukashevich has already taken three top 6 finishes so far in 2008 - missing out on a second consecutive podium at Brands Hatch by just 0.004 seconds.
Jolyon Palmer, who held off Lukashevich's advances to take third place in race two last weekend, praised the Russian's driving skills: "Ivan has been getting faster and faster," he said. "I really had to defend and if the race had gone on for another few yards he may just have taken the place."
Lukashevich currently lies sixth in the Formula Palmer Audi Championship, a position he hopes to maintain throughout the season: "I need to consistently challenge to be on the podium and then I am sure that the win will come," he added.
The next round of the 2008 Formula Palmer Audi Championship is at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium on 16/17/18 May.
